Overview
Step into the glittering, gaslit world of Edwardian London with the complete Sinclair's Mysteries quartet by Sunday Times bestselling author Katherine Woodfine. This brand new paperback collection follows shop girl Sophie Taylor and her fearless friend Lil as they solve four thrilling cases of theft, forgery and intrigue inside London's most glamorous department store. Packed with mystery, mischief and Edwardian glamour, this box set is a must-have for young detectives aged 9 and up who love adventure with heart.
About the Books
The Sinclair's Mysteries begins with The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow, in which the grand opening of Sinclair's department store is thrown into chaos when a priceless jewelled clockwork sparrow is stolen. Shop girl Sophie Taylor and her actress friend Lil Rose team up to catch the culprit, uncovering a web of secrets along the way. In The Jewelled Moth, the pair go undercover in high society, swapping shop counters for cucumber sandwiches and ballroom disguises as they investigate the puzzling disappearance of a priceless jewelled brooch. The Painted Dragon raises the stakes further when a valuable painting vanishes, plunging Sophie and Lil into a world of forgery, deceit and art world trickery. The quartet concludes with The Midnight Peacock, set during a snowy country house Christmas ball at Winter Hall, where the festive cheer hides a far more sinister plot. Across all four books, Katherine Woodfine blends fast-paced mystery plotting with rich Edwardian period detail, strong female friendships and satisfying, twist-filled resolutions — perfect for fans of Enid Blyton and Robin Stevens' Murder Most Unladylike series.
