Overview
This beautifully produced Wilco Classics sprayed-edge hardback brings together two of literature's most beloved fantasies in a single volume: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Written by Lewis Carroll, these stories follow Alice as she tumbles down a rabbit hole and steps through a mirror into topsy-turvy worlds ruled by riddles, talking creatures and mischievous logic. With eye-catching sprayed edges and a sturdy hardback binding, it's a striking edition for young readers and collectors alike, and a wonderful introduction to classic children's fiction.
About the Book
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland begins with a curious girl chasing a White Rabbit down a hole into a world where a Cheshire Cat grins from tree branches, a Mad Hatter hosts an endless tea party, and a short-tempered Queen of Hearts demands instant executions over the smallest offence. Alice must navigate shrinking potions, growing cakes and a courtroom of playing cards, all while holding onto her sense of self amid the nonsense. Through the Looking-Glass carries her further into a chessboard-shaped realm where she becomes a pawn working toward becoming a queen, meeting Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the flustered White Queen, and reciting the celebrated nonsense poem Jabberwocky. Together, bound in one handsome hardback, these two novels showcase Carroll's gift for wordplay, whimsical logic and unforgettable characters. Tenniel's original illustrations have shaped how generations picture Wonderland, and the stories remain a touchstone of English literature, endlessly referenced in art, film and everyday language. This edition's durable hardback casing and decorative sprayed page edges make it as satisfying to display as it is to read, while the unabridged text preserves Carroll's original wit for readers meeting Alice for the first time or revisiting her as a treasured classic.
About the Author
Lewis Carroll was the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898), an English writer, mathematician and photographer at Christ Church, Oxford. He created Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass (1871) for Alice Liddell, the young daughter of a colleague, weaving playful logic puzzles, parody and invented language into stories that have never been out of print. Carroll's flair for nonsense verse, most famously in Jabberwocky, continues to influence children's literature and popular culture more than 150 years later.
Why You'll Love This Edition
A gorgeous sprayed-edge hardback uniting two timeless Carroll classics in one volume, this edition is a joy to hold, read aloud and pass down - the perfect gift for young readers discovering Wonderland for the first time.
