Overview
Step into the dark, rain-slicked streets of Edinburgh with this five-book collection from bestselling Scottish crime writer Quintin Jardine. Featuring Detective Chief Superintendent (later Deputy Chief Constable) Bob Skinner, these gripping police procedurals combine razor-sharp plotting with authentic Scottish settings. Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, this brand-new paperback set delivers hours of tense, twist-filled reading and makes an excellent gift for any crime fiction enthusiast.
About the Books
This collection brings together five early instalments in the phenomenally popular Bob Skinner Mysteries series. In Skinner's Rules, the book that launched the series, Skinner hunts a serial killer stalking Edinburgh after a savagely mutilated body is discovered in a dark alleyway. Skinner's Festival sees an explosion rock Princes Street during the Edinburgh Festival, claimed by a group demanding political separation from Britain, forcing Skinner into a race against time. Skinner's Trail opens with the joyous birth of Skinner's son before plunging into a brutal murder investigation involving a chain of laundrettes, saunas and pubs used as a front for a drugs network, taking the trail from Scotland to Spain. Skinner's Round unfolds against the backdrop of a prestigious golf tournament on a new East Lothian country club course, where a partner is found dead in the clubhouse Jacuzzi, his throat cut, and an old witches' curse casts a sinister shadow over the investigation. Finally, Skinner's Ordeal begins with a mid-air explosion that brings down a plane over the Scottish skies, killing the British and American Defence Secretaries, plunging Skinner into the biggest and most politically sensitive investigation of his career. Together these novels showcase Jardine's tight plotting, vivid Edinburgh backdrops and a hero who has been described as Britain's toughest cop.
