About the Books
This collection contains complete, unabridged editions of six landmark works of nineteenth-century literature. Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre follows an orphaned governess whose fierce independence and moral conviction have inspired readers for generations, while her lesser-known novels The Professor and Villette explore themes of exile, ambition and quiet longing with remarkable psychological depth. Emily Brontë's sole novel, Wuthering Heights, remains one of the most passionate and unsettling love stories in the English language, centred on the destructive bond between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. Anne Brontë, often the most overlooked of the sisters, contributes two searing works of social realism: Agnes Grey, a candid account of a governess's hardships, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, a groundbreaking novel that confronted domestic abuse and a woman's right to independence with startling frankness for its time. Together, these six novels capture the breadth of the Brontë family's genius — a shared fascination with isolation, class and gender, alongside the distinct voice each sister brought to English fiction. Presented in matching clothbound hardback editions, this set is designed to be read, reread and displayed with pride.
About the Authors
Charlotte Brontë (1816–1855), Emily Brontë (1818–1848) and Anne Brontë (1820–1849) were sisters from Haworth, Yorkshire, who each achieved lasting literary fame despite short lives marked by hardship. Writing under male pseudonyms to gain a fair hearing in Victorian publishing, the sisters produced novels that broke new ground in their honest depiction of women's inner lives, love, class and moral struggle. Their work has never been out of print and continues to shape modern fiction, film and popular culture nearly two centuries after it was first published.
