Overview
Step into a pond bursting with imagination in this complete five-book Cat Kid Comic Club collection from Dav Pilkey, the bestselling creator of Dog Man and Captain Underpants. Following Li'l Petey, Molly, Flippy and twenty-one riotous baby frogs as they learn to write and publish their own comics, this colourful graphic novel set turns storytelling lessons into laugh-out-loud entertainment. Perfect for reluctant readers and budding artists aged 7-10, it's an unmissable gift for comic and Dog Man fans alike.
About the Books
Each book drops readers into a chaotic classroom of tadpoles-turned-cartoonists, guided by Li'l Petey, Molly and Flippy. In the opener, the newly formed club stumbles through its first comic-making attempts, with mishaps giving way to genuine progress. Perspectives challenges the frogs to retell events from different points of view, nudging readers toward empathy and storytelling craft. On Purpose follows siblings Naomi and Melvin as they search for purpose, with Naomi's get-rich-quick scheme sparking comedy and chaos. Collaborations puts teamwork centre stage as the frogs learn to compromise and create together, packed with inventive mini-comics born from disagreement. The final book, Influencers, closes the series with hilarious, action-packed mini-comics alongside a gentler tale celebrating a positive outlook. Every book is a comic-within-a-comic, rendered in acrylics, pastels, coloured pencil, clay, cardboard and photography, giving young artists endless inspiration. Told with Pilkey's trademark warmth and silliness, the series champions persistence, kindness and the joy of creating just because it's fun.
About the Author
Dav Pilkey was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia as a child and spent much of his school days sitting in the hallway, where he began doodling the earliest versions of Dog Man and Captain Underpants. A college professor later encouraged him to keep drawing and writing, and Pilkey went on to win a national competition, earn a Caldecott Honor, and become one of the world's most beloved children's authors. He now lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife.
