About the Author
Catherine Nixey studied Classics at Cambridge and taught the subject before becoming a journalist, writing for The Times and now working at The Economist. Her debut book, The Darkening Age, won the Royal Society of Literature Jerwood Award for Non-Fiction and the Morris D. Forkosch Book Award from the Council for Secular Humanism. Raised Catholic by a former nun and a former monk, Nixey brings a distinctive personal insight to her exploration of the early Church, combining scholarly rigour with a sharp, often wry narrative voice.
