Overview
Sweep across an entire century with Ken Follett's monumental Century Trilogy, a complete 3-book paperback set. Following five interconnected families - American, German, Russian, English and Welsh - through the First World War, the rise of fascism and the Cold War, this trilogy is storytelling on the grandest scale, ideal for fans of historical sagas and epic family drama seeking an unforgettable read in one great-value bundle.
About the Books
Fall of Giants opens in 1911, on the Coronation Day of King George V, following the Williams family of Welsh coal miners alongside the aristocratic Fitzherberts, whose lives collide through romance, rivalry and the upheavals of the First World War, the Russian Revolution and the fight for votes for women. Lady Maud Fitzherbert's forbidden love for a German spy sits at the heart of a story spanning Washington, St Petersburg and the Welsh valleys.
Winter of the World follows the same families a generation on, as Berlin descends into Nazi upheaval in 1933. Young Carla von Ulrich watches her world unravel while Ethel Leckwith, a formidable former British MP, and her son Lloyd are drawn into the brutal realities of fascism's rise, carrying readers through the Second World War from London to Pearl Harbor and Dresden to Hiroshima.
Edge of Eternity brings the saga to its conclusion during the Cold War. Rebecca Hoffmann, a teacher in East Germany, discovers she has been living a lie under Stasi surveillance, while her brother Walli dreams of escaping across the Berlin Wall. Spanning civil rights struggles and the Cuban Missile Crisis, this final volume brings each family's story to a satisfying close.
