Overview

The Classic Charles Dickens Collection brings together five of the author's most celebrated novels in one beautifully packaged paperback boxed set. From the fog-shrouded streets of London to the industrial gloom of the North, this collection captures Dickens at his very best. Perfect for newcomers and lifelong fans alike, it is an ideal gift or a rewarding addition to any home library, offering hours of immersive, unabridged reading from one of English literature's most enduring voices.

About the Books

This five-volume set gathers together Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, Hard Times, A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations — each presented complete and unabridged. Readers follow the orphaned Oliver Twist through the workhouses and criminal underworld of Victorian London, meeting unforgettable characters such as Fagin, the Artful Dodger and the menacing Bill Sikes. In A Christmas Carol, the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is transformed after visits from Jacob Marley's ghost and the three Spirits of Christmas. Hard Times offers Dickens' sharpest social critique, set in the grim industrial town of Coketown, while A Tale of Two Cities sweeps between London and Paris during the turbulence of the French Revolution. Finally, Great Expectations traces Pip's journey from humble beginnings to unexpected fortune, encountering the extraordinary Miss Havisham along the way. Together, these five intricately plotted masterpieces showcase Dickens' unrivalled gift for atmosphere, social commentary and unforgettable characterisation, making this collection the ideal introduction — or a treasured return — to one of English literature's greatest storytellers.

About the Author

Charles Dickens was born in 1812 near Portsmouth, where his father worked as a clerk in the navy pay office. The family's move to London in 1823 brought financial hardship, and young Dickens was sent to work in a blacking warehouse after his father was imprisoned for debt — experiences that profoundly shaped his writing. He began contributing to newspapers in 1833, and the serial publication of Pickwick Papers in 1836 launched his career. Over the following decades he produced his greatest novels, edited literary journals, and became the outstanding social commentator of the Victorian era before his death in June 1870.

Why You'll Love This Collection

A handsome, giftable set bringing together five of Dickens' finest and most beloved novels in unabridged paperback form — ideal for building a classic library, introducing a new reader to Dickens, or treating a devoted fan.
