Overview
Sweep back to the drama of the First World War and its aftermath with The Derwent Chronicles, a moving trilogy from Rosemary Goodacre. Following shy Sussex girl Amy Fletcher as she falls for wealthy Edmond Derwent, the series charts love, loss and healing across the trenches of Flanders, the home front, and the fragile peace that follows. This paperback collection brings all three emotionally rich novels together, perfect for fans of heartfelt wartime sagas and enduring romance.
About the Books
Until We Meet Again opens in the summer of 1914, when Amy Fletcher, an office worker living quietly with her family in Sussex, meets Edmond Derwent, son of one of the wealthiest families in the small town of Larchbury. As their romance blossoms, war breaks out and Edmond signs up as an officer, sending the couple's plans for the future into turmoil while Amy trains as a VAD nurse.
Until the War is Over picks up in 1918, following Amy and Edmond after their experiences at the front - Edmond as an officer, Amy as a nurse in France. Now settled back in England with baby Beth, the couple try to build a family life, though Amy's modest background means she struggles to be truly accepted by Edmond's grand, wealthy in-laws.
Until We Can Forgive closes the trilogy in the spring of 1919. With the war over and a fragile peace settling across the country, Amy and Edmond are now living in Cambridge, raising little Beth. Yet the shadow of the Great War lingers, particularly as the injuries Edmond sustained at Ypres continue to take their toll on his health and their marriage.
