Overview
Meet Dot, a fearless, funny, puzzle-mad young detective who — with her best pal Beans and her ever-faithful TOP DOG, McClusky — cracks case after case in this six-book paperback collection by Clara Vulliamy. Told in a lively, diary-style voice, each story blends school and community mysteries with warmth, humour and gentle suspense, making the series a firm favourite with confident young readers who love clues, codes and a good giggle along the way.
About the Books
This collection brings together all six Dotty Detective adventures. In Dotty Detective, we meet Dot, whose love of sour sherberts and fiendish puzzles makes her the perfect sleuth to unmask who's sabotaging the school talent show. The Paw Print Puzzle sees the trio investigating spooky night-time noises, learning that Ace Detective Fred Fantastic's golden rule — GET PROOF — is easier said than done when the suspect seems invisible. The Midnight Mystery whisks them off to Adventure Camp, where mean-girl Laura's tricks may be at play again, while McClusky trains for the local dog show. In The Lost Puppy, the team run Pet's Corner at the summer fair when Chipolata the sausage-dog puppy goes missing. The Birthday Surprise finds Dot's friends keeping secrets as they plan a surprise, testing her patience as much as her sleuthing skills. Finally, The Holiday Mystery proves that even sunny holidays can't stop the Join the Dots Detectives finding a case. Across all six books, short chapters and diary-style illustrations suit readers moving into their first chapter books.
