Overview
Eat to Your Heart's Content is a heart-healthy cookbook from two-Michelin-starred chef Sat Bains, written after a life-changing heart attack. Working with nutritionist Dr Neil Williams, Bains reinvented his everyday cooking so flavour never had to be sacrificed for wellbeing. Packed with supermarket-friendly, easy recipes built around lean protein, legumes, good fats and plenty of vegetables, this hardback suits home cooks who want genuinely delicious food that also supports cardiovascular health.
About the Book
In March 2021, Sat Bains — chef proprietor of the double Michelin-starred Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms in Nottingham — suffered a massive heart attack and underwent emergency triple bypass surgery. Determined not to let the experience dull his lifelong obsession with big, bold flavour, he teamed up with nutritionist Dr Neil Williams to rethink how he cooked at home. The result, Eat to Your Heart's Content, gathers the recipes he developed during recovery: dishes built around lean protein, a mix of legumes, good fats such as avocado, nuts and olive oil, and generous helpings of vegetables and fruit. Rather than feeling like a restrictive diet book, this 192-page hardback reads like a collection from a chef who still enjoys a good steak and glass of red wine in moderation — every recipe is designed for real life, using ingredients from any supermarket. Bains' recipe introductions are conversational and personal, drawing on three decades in professional kitchens, while the dishes range from quick weeknight meals to indulgent options for special occasions. It's a book for anyone told to watch their heart health but unwilling to give up good food, and for cooks curious how a top chef approaches everyday eating through a healthier lens.
