Overview
Galatea is a small, beautifully produced hardback short story from Madeline Miller, the Sunday Times bestselling author of The Song of Achilles and Circe. Reimagining the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea from the statue-turned-woman's own point of view, this compact edition includes a new afterword from Miller and makes a striking gift for fans of literary myth retellings and ancient Greek fiction.

About the Book
In Ancient Greece, a gifted marble sculptor is blessed by a goddess who breathes life into his masterpiece: the most beautiful woman the town has ever seen. Now his wife, Galatea is expected to be obedient, docile and grateful for her existence. But she has desires of her own and longs for a freedom her husband cannot bear to grant her. When his need for control tips into obsession, Galatea is locked away under constant watch, cut off from the daughter she loves. Determined to reclaim her life and rescue her child, she begins to plot her escape, whatever the cost. Told with the same sharp psychological insight that made Circe and The Song of Achilles international sensations, Galatea flips the myth on its head, giving voice to a woman traditionally silent and shaped by men. Miller delivers a tense, atmospheric story exploring ownership, autonomy and motherhood, wrapped in vivid textures of the ancient world. This handsome hardback edition, complete with a new afterword written especially for this printing, is an ideal introduction to Miller's work for new readers and a beautiful collectible for existing fans.
