Overview
Giuseppe's Italian Bakes is the debut cookbook from Giuseppe Dell'Anno, the Italian-born engineer who charmed the nation to become the first Italian champion of The Great British Bake Off in 2021. Packed with over 60 sweet and savoury recipes drawn from a lifetime of Italian baking heritage, this beautifully photographed hardback brings authentic focaccia, tiramisù, cannoli, panna cotta and pizza straight from an Italian family kitchen into yours, complete with Giuseppe's own signature twists.
About the Book
Giuseppe Dell'Anno grew up in Italy at the side of his chef-father, absorbing generations of gastronomic knowledge long before he ever considered baking a skill rather than second nature. After training as a chemical engineer and later moving to the UK to complete a doctorate in composite materials, he spent years working in research and industry before his true passion resurfaced on the world's biggest baking stage. In Giuseppe's Italian Bakes, he distils that heritage into more than 60 accessible, thoroughly tested recipes spanning classic Italian breads, cakes, desserts and savoury bakes. Step-by-step instructions guide bakers of all abilities through techniques for perfect focaccia, delicate amaretti, silky panna cotta, indulgent rum baba and crisp Sicilian cannoli, alongside show-stopping pizza and other bakery favourites. Every recipe carries Giuseppe's own signature twist on the classics, informed by the technical precision that made him a standout on the Bake Off tent. Gorgeous full-colour photography illustrates each bake, while practical tips and tricks — honed from his time facing the show's toughest technical challenges — help home bakers avoid common pitfalls and achieve professional results. This is a book for anyone who wants to move beyond generic banana bread and explore the true depth and regional variety of Italian baking, told with warmth, authenticity and genuine expertise.
