Overview
The Green Gardening Handbook: Grow, Eat and Enjoy is Nancy Birtwhistle's practical, season-by-season guide to sustainable growing at home. Packed with over 100 eco-friendly tips, it shows readers how to make the most of any space, from a windowsill to a full allotment, while reducing waste and saving money. Warm, encouraging and beautifully illustrated, it's the perfect companion for anyone keen to grow, cook and preserve their own food.
About the Book
Written by former Great British Bake Off champion and Sunday Times bestselling author Nancy Birtwhistle, this hardback handbook is structured around the four seasons, guiding readers from early spring through to late winter. Each section covers the jobs, plantings and harvests suited to that time of year, along with tips for handling gluts, storing produce and reducing food waste. Nancy draws on her own experience as a lifelong gardener to demystify composting, soil care, container growing and crop rotation, making the advice accessible whether you have a sprawling garden or a single spare windowsill. Alongside the growing guidance sit seasonal recipes and preserving techniques, so nothing you grow goes to waste. The book also touches on choosing low-impact tools and clothing, helping readers garden more sustainably from the ground up. Following on from her bestsellers Clean & Green and Green Living Made Easy, this third book channels the same warm, practical voice that has built Nancy a devoted following, translating her green-living philosophy into the garden. It's aimed at everyone from complete beginners to seasoned growers who want to make their patch more sustainable, and works equally well as a cover-to-cover read or a reference to dip into throughout the year.
