Overview
Step into the wild world of Berk with this four-book paperback collection from Cressida Cowell's bestselling How to Train Your Dragon series. Following unlikely Viking hero Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and his loyal dragon Toothless, these stories blend slapstick humour, genuine heart and page-turning adventure. Ideal for readers aged 7 to 12, the set is a brilliant introduction to the series that inspired the hit film franchise.
About the Books
This collection gathers the first four instalments in Cowell's twelve-book saga, charting Hiccup's rise from awkward chieftain's son to unlikely Viking hero. In How to Train Your Dragon, Hiccup secretly befriends an injured Night Fury, Toothless, defying centuries of Viking tradition that says dragons and humans cannot be friends. How to Be a Pirate sees Hiccup swept aboard a ship of ruthless pirates, forced to prove his worth through wit rather than muscle. In How to Speak Dragonese, the Vikings realise they must learn to communicate with dragons, and Hiccup's unexpected talent for the dragon tongue puts him centre stage. Finally, How to Cheat a Dragon's Curse raises the stakes as Hiccup races to find a rare cure for his friend Fishlegs, braving sharkworms, doomfangs and furious Hooligans. Each story is illustrated throughout with Cowell's own witty, scribbled-style drawings that bring Berk vividly to life. Told with warmth and wit, the series has sold millions of copies worldwide. This set lets young readers follow Hiccup's earliest, most formative adventures in order.
