Overview
This joyful bundle brings together ten of Jeanne Willis's best-loved picture books in one great-value paperback set. From a toilet-training baby Martian to a spotty hippo and a bat who sees the world upside down, each story is packed with rhyme, silliness and warmth. Perfectly sized for little hands and bedtime sharing, this collection is an ideal introduction to one of Britain's funniest picture book authors, and a brilliant gift for any young reader.
About the Books
Every title showcases Jeanne Willis's trademark blend of rhythmic verse, gentle humour and big-hearted storytelling. In Don't Go There!, a baby Martian causes chaos until he learns where the toilet really is, making it a favourite for potty training. Daft Bat follows a bat who insists trees grow upside down, celebrating different ways of seeing the world, while Hippospotamus turns a case of spots into a hilarious jungle mystery. Boa's Bad Birthday finds a hopeful snake discovering that birthdays don't always go to plan, and Slug Needs a Hug follows one small slug's search for affection. Cottonwool Colin gives courage to any child who feels overprotected, as a tiny mouse longs to play outside like his siblings. Misery Moo is a touching tale about cheering up even the grumpiest of cows, while The T-Rex Who Lost His Specs! turns everyday mishaps into laugh-out-loud dinosaur chaos. Big Bad Bun flips rabbit stereotypes on their head, and Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Hounds sees an alien teacher hilariously misunderstand pet dogs. Together, these stories tackle everyday childhood themes through laugh-out-loud rhyme and irresistible characters.
