Overview
This eight-book paperback collection brings together some of Jeffery Deaver's most compelling early crime fiction in one great-value set. From Wall Street legal intrigue to Hollywood location-scout thrillers and the quick-witted Rune mysteries, these stories showcase the twisting plots and sharp characterisation that made Deaver one of the world's most read suspense novelists. Perfect for established fans filling gaps in their collection or new readers wanting an immersive introduction to his early crime writing, this brand-new set is ready to enjoy from the shelf or as a thoughtful gift.
About the Books
Each title shares Deaver's trademark tension, twist endings and vivid settings. Mistress of Justice follows Wall Street paralegal Taylor Lockwood, drawn into a dangerous hunt for a stolen document. Bloody River Blues and Shallow Graves introduce Hollywood location scout John Pellam, whose search for the perfect film backdrop lands him amid murder investigations in small-town America. Manhattan Is My Beat and Death of a Blue Movie Star star the irrepressible Rune, a young New York filmmaker turned amateur sleuth. Hell's Kitchen returns Pellam to New York for a documentary shoot that uncovers dark neighbourhood secrets. The October List tells its crime story backwards, so readers piece together the truth in reverse. Speaking in Tongues centres on Tate Collier, whose mastery of language becomes a weapon of manipulation. Together, the eight novels trace Deaver's growth as a storyteller across legal thriller, Hollywood noir and character-driven suspense, rewarding readers who enjoy clever misdirection and morally complex characters.
