About the Books
This collection gathers all seven core novels of Laura Ingalls Wilder's autobiographical Little House series in one paperback set. The story begins in Little House in the Big Woods, where readers meet Ma, Pa, Mary, Laura and baby Carrie living in the Wisconsin forest. The journey continues in Little House on the Prairie as the family travels by covered wagon to Kansas, before settling On the Banks of Plum Creek, where Laura and Mary finally attend school nearby. In By the Shores of Silver Lake, the family follows Pa west by railroad to build their own homestead, while The Long Winter tells the gripping true story of the family's fight for survival through a brutal seven-month winter. Little Town on the Prairie sees teenage Laura working towards her teaching certificate, and the set concludes with These Happy Golden Years, following Laura into young adulthood and her courtship with Almanzo Wilder. Based on Wilder's own childhood, these novels offer an honest window into 19th-century pioneer life, blending adventure, hardship, family warmth and history. They remain among the most cherished works of American children's literature, inspiring the classic TV series and generations of readers.
