Overview:
This five-book paperback collection brings together Michelle Harrison's spellbinding fairy-lore fantasies. Featuring the 13 Treasures quartet, One Wish, The Thirteen Treasures, The Thirteen Curses and The Thirteen Secrets, plus A Pinch of Magic, it's packed with fairy magic, family curses and courageous heroines. Ideal for confident readers aged 9-12 who love folklore-flavoured adventure and mystery, this set is a wonderful introduction to one of the UK's most celebrated children's fantasy authors, and a brilliant gift.
About the Books:
One Wish introduces the Spinney Wicket Wishing Tree, where heartfelt desires can come dangerously true, setting the scene for Tanya's story. The Thirteen Treasures follows Tanya, who can see fairies, though not the pretty, wish-granting kind; these fairies torment her, driving her to her grandmother's cottage near Elvesden Manor, where a decades-old disappearance still casts a shadow. The Thirteen Curses raises the stakes as Red, desperate to rescue her brother from the fairy realm, strikes a bargain, hunting for the scattered charms of Tanya's silver bracelet against a fairy court bound by cruel rules. The Thirteen Secrets closes the trilogy as Red, now known as Rowan, confronts buried truths about her own past. Rounding out the set, A Pinch of Magic introduces the Widdershins sisters, Fliss, Betty and Charlie, bound by a family curse trapping them on the prison island of Crowstone; armed with three magical objects, they must unravel the curse before it's too late. Together these five books showcase Harrison's gift for blending British folklore, atmospheric settings and gutsy heroines, with themes of sisterhood, bravery and loyalty running throughout, alongside the fast pace and eerie atmosphere that has made Harrison a distinctive voice in children's fantasy.
