About the Books
This collection spans Philip Reeve's acclaimed Traction City universe. Mortal Engines opens the saga as apprentice historian Tom Natsworthy and the scarred outcast Hester Shaw are flung from the predator city of London into a perilous chase across the Great Hunting Ground. The story continues through Predator's Gold, Infernal Devices and A Darkling Plain, following Tom and Hester's daughter Wren as old conflicts between roaming cities and the static Anti-Traction League reach a dramatic conclusion. The set also includes the Fever Crumb prequel trilogy - Fever Crumb, A Web of Air and Scrivener's Moon - set generations earlier, revealing the origins of the Traction Era through the eyes of a young engineer uncovering long-buried secrets. Rounding out the collection is Night Flights, a collection of short stories following daring aviator and spy Anna Fang. Together these eight paperbacks offer a complete journey through one of modern YA fiction's most inventive dystopian worlds - full of moving cities, airships, mutants and moral complexity.
