Overview
Mowgli Street Food brings the beloved menu of Nisha Katona's celebrated restaurant chain into home kitchens across the UK. Packed with the fragrant, fiery, home-style Indian dishes that made Mowgli a national sensation, this hardback collection blends personal storytelling with over 70 accessible recipes. From punchy street snacks to comforting curries and indulgent desserts, it's an essential addition to any cook's shelf, celebrating real Indian food as eaten in Indian homes rather than the familiar curry-house stereotype.
About the Book
This unique collection of recipes and stories from Nisha Katona's Mowgli Street Food restaurants brings you the best of their beloved menu, and much more. As seen on BBC2's Top of the Shop with Tom Kerridge, Sunday Brunch, and BBC Radio 4's The Kitchen Cabinet, Nisha unlocks the secrets of her most successful recipes. Discover how to recreate the iconic Angry Bird, the signature flavours of the House Lamb Curry, and the taste explosion that is Chat Bombs. Try tempting snacks like Fenugreek Kissed Fries, spice up dinner with a whole host of delicious dahls, and indulge in desserts, drinks and cocktails from a Cardamom Custard Tart to a Sweet Delhi Diazepam. From showstopping slaws to the ultimate Aloo Ghobi, Mother Butter Chicken to Calcutta Tangled Greens, each dish captures the smash-and-grab zing of Indian street food. Running to 224 pages, this hardback is organised around the sections of a real Mowgli menu, mixing recipe instructions with the story of how a barrister-turned-restaurateur built one of the UK's most talked-about restaurant groups. It's a book for anyone who wants to cook big-flavoured, honest Indian food at home without fuss or pretence.
