Overview
Meet the most magical teacher St Barty's Primary has ever seen. This complete 14-book paperback collection follows spell-fumbling wizard-turned-teacher Mr Majeika through school trips, haunted hotels, circus visits and run-ins with the witch Wilhelmina Worlock. Adapted for children's television, Humphrey Carpenter's series offers a wonderful introduction to independent chapter-book reading for children aged seven and up.
About the Books
When Class Three's new teacher flies in through the classroom window on a magic carpet, ordinary school life is left behind. Mr Majeika behaves like any normal teacher when he wants to — but with troublemakers like Hamish Bigmore around, and the scheming Wilhelmina Worlock never far away, a little magic always slips out. Across all fourteen stories, Class Three are swept into one chaotic adventure after another: a school trip gone wrong, a spooky ghost train, a haunted hotel stay, a circus visit, and a run-in with the internet. Written with warmth and wit by Humphrey Carpenter, whose light touch has made Mr Majeika a firm favourite for decades, each short chapter builds reading confidence while staying accessible and hugely entertaining. This complete paperback set brings together the entire series in one great-value bundle.
About the Author
Humphrey Carpenter (1946–2005) was a broadcaster, biographer and much-loved children's author. Born and educated in Oxford, he worked for the BBC before becoming a full-time writer, going on to write acclaimed biographies of J. R. R. Tolkien, W. H. Auden and Benjamin Britten. Alongside this work, he created the hugely popular Mr Majeika series, later adapted for children's television and still a favourite in British primary schools today.
Why You'll Love This Mr Majeika Collection
Funny, warm and wonderfully silly, this complete Mr Majeika set is a brilliant way to hook young readers on chapter books, with fourteen self-contained adventures and always another magical mishap waiting.
