Overview:
Discover the Peace Adzo Medie Collection, a two-book paperback set of contemporary Ghanaian fiction from a Women's Prize-longlisted, Reese's Book Club-selected author. His Only Wife and Nightbloom bring vividly drawn characters to life across Ghana and the diaspora, exploring marriage, family expectation and enduring friendship with warmth, wit and emotional depth. Ideal for readers of literary and book club fiction who enjoy character-driven stories and hopeful, thought-provoking endings, this set is a rewarding introduction to one of West Africa's most acclaimed novelists.
About the Books:
His Only Wife follows Afi Tekple, a talented young seamstress from a small Ghanaian town, whose family convinces her to marry Elikem Ganyo, a wealthy businessman she has never met. The arrangement promises security, but when Afi arrives in glittering, demanding Accra, she discovers that a marriage built on appearances tests everything she believes about love and independence. A Reese's Book Club pick and New York Times Notable Book, it balances sharp humour with tenderness as Afi finds her own voice. Nightbloom follows cousins Selasi and Akorfa, inseparable in childhood, until adolescence pulls them apart as Selasi withdraws behind a wall no one can breach. Years later their paths have diverged: Akorfa navigates international development work and motherhood in the United States, while Selasi runs one of Accra's hottest restaurants. When a crisis forces them back together, both women must confront long-buried secrets and childhood trauma. Longlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction, Nightbloom is a compassionate exploration of female friendship, memory and the cost of silence. Together, these novels showcase Medie's gift for sharp dialogue, cultural nuance and emotional insight, offering a resonant portrait of Ghanaian womanhood, ambition and belonging.
