About the Book
First published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice remains one of the most cherished novels in English literature. When the sharp-witted Elizabeth Bennet meets the proud, reserved Mr Darcy, their early clashes give way to a story of misjudged first impressions, social pressure, and slowly unfolding affection. Set against the backdrop of the English landed gentry, Austen follows Elizabeth as she navigates her family's expectations, the machinations of society, and her own quick, sometimes unfair, judgments of those around her. Through their evolving relationship, Austen builds a story rich in wit, irony, and social detail, exploring class, marriage, and personal growth that remains resonant today. This deluxe edition preserves Austen's original text in full, presented with premium production values that elevate the reading experience: a robust hardback binding, elegant sprayed edges, and a clean, readable layout that lets the prose take centre stage. It suits first-time readers, students studying the novel, and long-time fans wanting a fresh, gift-worthy copy.
About the Author
Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 at Steventon near Basingstoke, the seventh child of the parish rector. She lived at Steventon until her family moved to Bath in 1801, and later settled in Chawton, Hampshire, in 1809. It was there that she completed and revised much of her best-known work. Only four novels were published in her lifetime: Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), and Emma (1816). She died in Winchester on July 18, 1817, and her enduring reputation as one of English literature's finest novelists has only grown in the centuries since.
Why You'll Love This Edition
Combining Austen's sparkling wit with a genuinely beautiful physical format, this sprayed edge hardback turns a classic read into a keepsake. It's a gift that looks as good as it reads, perfect for any bookshelf.
