Overview

Reset Your Mind, Body and Spirit is a scathingly honest, first-person account of one man's five-year battle with anxiety and depression, and how he finally found his way out. Written by Mandeep S. Jalota, a senior Indian Revenue Service officer, this survivor's guide blends raw personal experience with practical, research-backed strategies. Rather than offering clinical detachment, Jalota writes as someone who has lived through the exhausting cycle of misdiagnosis, failed medication and mental exhaustion, making this an unusually candid and relatable read for anyone facing similar struggles.

About the Book

This is the real story of a high-profile professional who spent years searching for answers to constant stress, emotional exhaustion, chronic underachievement and an inability to imagine a happier future. When doctors and medicines repeatedly failed him, Jalota turned inward, adopting a trial-and-error approach to rebuilding his own happiness from the ground up. The result of five hard years of struggle is this practical, deeply personal survivor's guide, which lays out the methods that genuinely helped him and others recover.

Readers will discover how to recognise and relieve the symptoms of generalised anxiety disorder and OCD, understand the brain's "happiness chemicals" and how to influence them naturally, and learn to spot and escape common mental traps. The book explores why visualising happiness and keeping a diary can be powerful recovery tools, why mental health is inseparable from physical health, and how diet can be reshaped to support a calmer, happier brain. It also covers physical activities that act as natural antidepressants, lesser-known secrets about sleep, and neuroscience concepts explained from a patient's own perspective rather than a textbook's. Throughout, Jalota's tone remains direct, unflinching and ultimately hopeful, offering a straightforward route towards a more fulfilled life.

  • A raw, first-hand account of overcoming anxiety, depression and OCD
  • Practical, trial-tested strategies rather than abstract theory
  • Covers diet, exercise, sleep and neuroscience in accessible language
  • Written by a working professional, not a clinician, for genuine relatability
  • Encourages diary-writing and visualisation as tangible recovery tools
  • A hopeful, honest guide for readers and their families alike

About the Author

Mandeep S. Jalota is an IRS (Indian Revenue Service) officer of the 2013 batch, currently serving as Joint Commissioner of GST, Mumbai. Jalota struggled with depression and anxiety for much of his life before successfully working his way out of it independently. Dismayed by long-term reliance on medication alongside autoimmune complications including ulcerative colitis, he overhauled his diet and lifestyle entirely. This transformation allowed him to stop two decades of medication for acute depression, anxiety and ulcerative colitis, giving him the first-hand insight behind this book.

Why You'll Love This Book

Honest, unpretentious and genuinely practical, this survivor's guide speaks directly to anyone tired of clinical jargon. It offers real tools from someone who has actually walked the path, making recovery feel achievable rather than abstract.
