Overview
Step into the shadow-drenched origins of one of vampire fiction's most compelling characters with The Saga of Larten Crepsley, a four-book prequel series by bestselling author Darren Shan. Spanning two centuries of war, loyalty, love and betrayal, this collection traces Larten's journey from a desperate workhouse boy into the fearsome vampire General readers first met in The Saga of Darren Shan. Fast-paced and gothic, it's essential reading for fans of the Cirque du Freak universe and newcomers alike.
About the Books
This four-book set collects the complete prequel arc to Darren Shan's bestselling Saga of Darren Shan series. In Birth of a Killer, young Larten Crepsley flees a brutal workhouse after a terrible act of violence, falling into the mysterious world of vampires under the guidance of the enigmatic Seba Nile. Ocean of Blood follows Larten as he breaks free from his mentor and joins the reckless, thrill-seeking Cubs, forcing him to confront what kind of vampire he wants to become. In Palace of the Damned, Larten faces the hardest test of his life: caring for a baby he can never truly deserve, while the violence of his past resurfaces in devastating ways. Finally, Brothers to the Death brings the saga to its dramatic close, as Larten becomes a reluctant figurehead in the war against the Vampaneze, helping fellow vampires escape the horrors of the Nazi era while tragedy strikes closer to home than ever before. Together, the four novels form a complete origin story of sea voyages, murder, war and love — a nobody vampire who changed the world forever.
