Overview:
Discover the Sally Nicholls Collection, a warm and wonder-filled trio of paperback picture books for ages 3-7. Written by Waterstones Prize-winning author Sally Nicholls, this set explores how forests grow, how oceans came to be, and how our own bodies work. Blending gentle storytelling with accessible facts, each title turns big questions into playful, shareable reading moments-perfect for bedtime, nursery shelves, or curious young explorers at home.
About the Books:
Who Makes a Forest? follows a walk with Grandpa as a seed grows into a thriving woodland, with a short non-fiction section on forest types, ecology, and deforestation, paired with Carolina Rabei's warm illustrations. Who Makes an Ocean? takes readers to the Sea Museum with Dad, tracing billions of years of Earth's history from fiery beginnings to life-filled seas, with Rabei's sea-washed artwork bringing deep time to life. The Nose, Toes and Tummy Book turns the body into a joyful game, using rhythm and repetition to name body parts while celebrating diverse families through Gosia Herba's bright illustrations. Together, the three books balance science, story, and play, encouraging children to look closely at the natural world and their own bodies with curiosity. Each is designed for shared reading aloud, though older children in the set's age range will enjoy the non-fiction sections independently too. The set brings together two illustration styles and subjects-nature and the body-united by Nicholls' warm, clear voice and gift for making big ideas feel manageable for young readers.
