Overview
The Special Forces Cadets series by bestselling author and former SAS soldier Chris Ryan follows a team of teenage recruits selected for a top-secret military programme. Across six explosive missions spanning North Korea, the Congo, Brazil and beyond, the cadets face kidnappers, warlords, assassins and hostile terrain. Authentic military detail combines with relentless pace, making this a standout series for young adult readers who love high-stakes, real-world action and adventure fiction.
About the Books
This six-book collection brings together the complete Special Forces Cadets series in one paperback set. In Siege, a secretive government programme recruits a small team of under-sixteens with exceptional endurance, discipline and quick thinking for undercover military operations. Missing sends the cadets to Pyongyang disguised as young pioneers to trace a British agent who has vanished while investigating North Korea's nuclear programme. In Justice, the team parachutes into the Congo rainforest on a rescue mission that quickly spirals out of control, forcing them to question who they can trust. Ruthless takes the cadets into the ghettos of Brazil, where street children fight for survival against corrupt paramilitaries. Hijack sees two cadets captured while undercover as nature watchers, with the wider mission in jeopardy and their friends' lives on the line. Finally, in Assassin, the cadets are tasked with protecting a target from a deadly attack and must survive a brutal alpine winter to make it out alive. Written with the authenticity only a former special forces soldier could bring, each instalment is fast-paced, gritty and packed with genuine military insight, making this a must-have set for fans of action-driven YA fiction.
About the Author
Chris Ryan was born in Newcastle and joined 22 SAS in 1984, later serving as troop guide for B Squadron Mountain Troop and completing three tours with the anti-terrorist team as an assaulter, sniper and Sniper Team Commander. He was part of the famous Bravo Two Zero patrol during the 1991 Gulf War and was the only member of his unit to escape capture, an experience that earned him the Military Medal. His account of the mission, The One That Got Away, became an instant bestseller. Since then, Chris has written more than fifty books and presented several successful television programmes.
