Overview
The Wandering Earth is a dazzling short story collection from Cixin Liu, the bestselling author of The Three-Body Problem and the first Asian writer to win the Hugo Award for Best Novel. Gathering ten of his finest short stories, including five Chinese Galaxy Award winners, this collection showcases the imaginative range that has made Liu one of the most celebrated voices in modern science fiction, blending hard science, cosmic wonder and deeply human stakes across every page.

About the Book
This collection takes its title from the story that inspired the record-breaking Chinese blockbuster film, which topped the global box office in February 2019. In the title story, the Sun is dying, and rather than abandon the planet, humanity constructs thousands of colossal engines to propel Earth itself out of its orbit on a centuries-long voyage toward a new star. It is a premise of staggering scale, rendered with the meticulous scientific grounding and emotional depth that define Liu's work. The remaining nine stories range just as widely, taking readers to the far edges of the universe and the furthest reaches of time, imagining futures and fates stranger than most writers would dare attempt. Throughout, Liu combines rigorous scientific speculation with a melancholic, humane sensibility, using extraordinary events to explore ordinary questions: how people love, sacrifice, endure and hope when confronted with forces far beyond their control. Fans of The Three-Body Problem trilogy will recognise the same expansive imagination here, distilled into shorter, punchier narratives that make an excellent introduction to Liu's work for new readers. Praised by critics for its originality, this collection confirms Liu's reputation as one of the genre's most vital contemporary voices, and this brand-new paperback edition is a must for any serious science fiction collection.
