Overview
Tom Gates is back for his third doodle-packed adventure, and things are looking up! Sports Day, the school fair and his own birthday are all on the horizon, and best of all, his infuriating big sister Delia won't be at any of them. There's just one small snag: Granny Mavis has volunteered to bake his birthday cake. Bursting with hilarious sketches and Tom's trademark humour, this Roald Dahl Funny Prize-winning series continues to delight readers everywhere.
About the Book
Written in diary form and illustrated throughout with Tom's own scribbly doodles, Everything's Amazing (sort of) follows the ups and downs of a new school term. Tom is thrilled that Delia is going to miss out on Sports Day, the school fair and his birthday celebrations - result! But the excitement is tempered by the horrifying possibility that Granny Mavis might insist on making his birthday cake herself. On the bright side, form teacher Mr Keen has given Tom's band, Dogzombies, the chance to perform in front of the whole school, and there's even talk of a spot at the school disco. Tom narrates every triumph and disaster with brilliant comic timing, and fans will recognise the familiar cast of quirky teachers, classmates and family members, all rendered with Liz Pichon's signature warmth and wit. The mix of short chapters, hand-lettered captions and laugh-out-loud doodles makes this an ideal read for reluctant readers and bookworms alike. As the third instalment in a much-loved series that has sold millions of copies worldwide, this book stands well on its own but will delight existing fans.
