Overview
This William Boyd Collection brings together three of the author's most celebrated novels in one brand-new paperback bundle. Spanning a fictional twentieth-century diary, a mystery set in 1930s Los Angeles, and a rackety film-set drama in 1968 Brighton, these novels showcase Boyd's trademark blend of wit, historical sweep and sharp characterisation. Perfect for fans of literary and historical fiction, this collection makes a superb gift for any serious book lover.
About the Books
Any Human Heart follows Logan Mountstuart across the entire twentieth century, from Oxford to Paris, wartime espionage recruited by Ian Fleming, and the 1960s New York art world, mixing with the great figures of his era while making the same very human mistakes as the rest of us. This edition features cover artwork from the acclaimed Channel 4 drama starring Kim Cattrall, Gillian Anderson, Jim Broadbent and Tom Hollander. The Blue Afternoon takes readers to 1936 Los Angeles, where architect Kay Fischer is approached by an elderly stranger claiming to be her long-lost father. Together they journey back into his past to uncover a decades-old mystery involving a missing woman and a killer's true identity. Trio is set during the turbulent summer of 1968, as the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy and riots in Paris form the backdrop to the chaotic making of a Swinging Sixties film in Brighton. A blocked writer, a producer hiding a secret, and a glamorous actress watched by the CIA all lead double lives as pressure mounts on set. Together, these novels show why William Boyd is regarded as one of Britain's finest storytellers.
