Overview
Step inside Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches with this complete eight-book paperback collection following clumsy, warm-hearted trainee witch Mildred Hubble through four hilarious years of spell mishaps, broomstick disasters and growing confidence. Written and illustrated by beloved British author Jill Murphy, this bestselling series has charmed generations of young readers since 1974 and remains a favourite for bedtime stories, classroom reading corners, and first chapter book collections.
About the Books
Across all eight adventures, Mildred Hubble stumbles from a nervous first year through to her fourth and final year at Miss Cackle's Academy. In The Worst Witch, Mildred can't ride a broomstick straight and keeps muddling her spells. The Worst Witch Strikes Again brings mischievous new pupil Enid Nightshade, while A Bad Spell for the Worst Witch sees Mildred determined to shake off her clumsy reputation. The Worst Witch All at Sea takes the class on a seaside trip Mildred can hardly bear without her cat Tabby, and The Worst Witch Saves the Day introduces a mysterious new form teacher. In The Worst Witch to the Rescue, loyal friendship saves the day when spells go wrong, and The Worst Witch and the Wishing Star finds senior pupil Mildred entrusted with lighting the school's lanterns. First Prize for the Worst Witch follows Mildred into her fourth year as new challenges arise. Together these stories form a satisfying journey from nervous pupil to confident young witch, full of humour and the message that mistakes are part of growing up.
