Overview
Brain Food is a science-backed guide to eating for optimal cognitive health, written by neuroscientist and integrative nutritionist Dr Lisa Mosconi. Cutting through fad-diet noise, the book explains exactly how food shapes memory, mood and long-term brain function. Drawing on her own laboratory research alongside emerging studies on the gut-brain connection, Mosconi offers a practical, evidence-based food plan designed to protect against cognitive decline, stress and dementia at any age.

About the Book
Most diet advice focuses on the waistline, rarely on the organ that runs the show: the brain. In Brain Food, Dr Lisa Mosconi draws on more than fifteen years of clinical and laboratory research to show precisely how nutrition affects brain structure and performance over a lifetime. She explains why the brain's dietary needs differ from the rest of the body's, busts popular myths around fashionable diets, and reveals which foods genuinely support memory, focus and long-term resilience against cognitive decline. Central to her argument is the gut-brain axis, an area of emerging science linking digestive health directly to mood, clarity and risk of neurodegenerative disease. Rather than vague generalisations, the book provides concrete, actionable guidance: detailed lists of foods to prioritise and those to limit, alongside brain-boosting recipes inspired by Mosconi's own Italian upbringing. Readers are also given tools to assess where their current diet sits on the brain-health spectrum, making the science personally relevant rather than abstract. Whether the goal is sharper day-to-day thinking, protection against age-related memory loss, or simply a better understanding of the food-mind connection, Brain Food translates rigorous neuroscience into an approachable, empowering plan anyone can follow.
