About the Author
Dick Francis (1920–2010) was a champion steeplechase jockey who rode for Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother before turning to writing. Drawing on his racing career, he wrote more than forty internationally bestselling thrillers, celebrated for their authentic sporting detail and lean, suspenseful style. He won the Crime Writers' Association's Cartier Diamond Dagger, was named a Mystery Writers of America Grand Master, and was awarded a CBE in 2000 for his contribution to literature.
